Position with the Firm
Mr. Hays founded Hays Financial Consulting, LLC and serves as Managing Principal. He is a corporate financial consultant who specializes in providing fiduciary financial management services for insolvent companies. He serves as a bankruptcy trustee, receiver, special master, assignee, distribution agent, liquidation agent and liquidating trustee. Mr. Hays manages companies in bankruptcy; provides turnaround management, forensic accounting, and litigation services; investigates causes of action, and consults with companies, lenders, and creditor’s committees. He has twenty-five years of financial management and operations experience spanning a wide variety of industries.
Mr. Hays has been appointed by the United States Trustee to serve as Chapter 11 trustee in complex business cases and serves as a Chapter 7 panel trustee. He has also been appointed to serve as Receiver in national investor fraud cases. Mr. Hays is often involved in newsworthy cases and has recently been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, and the Winston-Salem Journal. In addition, TV news stories reflecting interviews with Mr. Hays have been aired on WSB TV in Atlanta and a story on a case where he serves as Trustee was aired on CBS national news. Prior Industry Experience
Prior to founding Hays Financial Consulting in 2001, Mr. Hays was Executive Vice President of William G. Hays & Associates, Inc. for 10 years. In that position, Mr. Hays served as a financial consultant to fiduciaries in bankruptcy and receivership cases from 1991 to 2001. He consulted, developed, and implemented plans to maximize recovery from financially troubled companies, managed insolvent companies, investigated fraud, liquidated assets, and provided litigation support. He worked closely with counsel to pursue recovery through litigation. Clients of the firm included international financial institutions and major law firms. Mr. Hays’ career includes 10 years in corporate finance at two of Atlanta’s major corporations, The Coca-Cola Company and Cox Communications, Inc.
Education & Credentials
Mr. Hays is a Certified Turnaround Professional ("CTP") and a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor ("CIRA"). He is one of a handful of financial executives in the country that hold both of these professional designations. Mr. Hays holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Georgia State University, in Atlanta, Georgia and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Mr. Hays is a member of the following professional organizations: Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors; American Bankruptcy Institute; Georgia Chapter Certified Fraud Examiners (former Board Member); National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees; National Funding Association; Region 21 Trustee Association and the Turnaround Management Association.
